Renewable Energy, Clean Tech and International Carbon Markets - Workshop
Our firm held a workshop regarding Renewable Energy, Clean Tech and International Carbon Markets.
Adv. Jeff Karp (partner from our offices in the U.S.) and two guest speakers presented to an oversubscribed audience. Adv. Jeff Karp spoke about the current markets for renewable energy, clean tech, and carbon emission reduction projects, globally and in the United States. He also discussed the Stimulus Bill and the recently passed legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives that imposes a federal mandatory cap-and-trade system and a national (renewable energy) electricity standard. Moreover, the presenters also described the opportunities for Israeli investors, manufacturers, and renewable and clean tech companies stemming from existing global market activities and the U.S. legislative initiatives. They also covered numerous examples of technologies that investors were interested in licensing or acquiring from Israeli technology companies, and projects applying Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and CDM methodologies that international carbon companies were interested in funding for implementation in the United States.
The attendees, included representatives of renewable energy and clean tech companies, investment banks, venture capital and private equity companies, foundations, energy and environmental consulting firms, government ministries, non-government organizations, and the press.
